"What To Wear To Work This Fall"

There is an interesting article on Yahoo!HotJobs called What To Wear To Work This Fall. The article starts out with a section entitled You Are What You Wear which says, "You can tell a lot about people by the way they dress. According to Yahoo! HotJobs research, 75% of recruiters believe that how you dress for work affects your job, salary, and possible promotions. Wearing the right outfit is very important to your career development." Absolutely.

The other 2 sections of the article are Women's Fall Trends and Men's Fall Trends. You can view the entire article with pictures at:

Spring 2007 Preview

Well, New York Fashion Week is over now, and I am quite disappointed with what the fashion looks like for Spring 2007. I can't imagine these styles being flattering on any real woman's or man's figure:
  • Skin-tight pants in shiny metallic fabrics
  • Short shorts for men
  • Hairstyles that are teased and overly-hairsprayed
  • Short T-shirt dresses
  • Bubble dresses

In fact, the author of Three is a Trend referred to these bubble dresses as "Oompa-Loompa-inspired dresses". Who would want to be dressed as an Oompa-Loompa, unless it's for Halloween? If you want to see the fashions that I'm referring to, you can see the blog with pictures at:

http://nymag.com/daily/fashion/three_is_a_trend/

Of course, these fashions will be revamped to better accomodate the real woman and man before they hit the department stores next Spring, so maybe there's some hope.

Fashion News

This week is New York Fashion Week showcasing Spring 2007 style. This is, of course, an exciting time for the fashionistas. I have to say, I'm not thrilled with the throw back to 80's styles, and I absolutely hate balloon skirts for anyone over 15 years old. Isn't their 15 minutes over yet?

If you are tired of seeing rail-thin models, there is an interesting article on Reuters by Andrew Hay. Apparently, Madrid's Fashion Week has imposed a ban against models who are too thin. "They want to project an image of beauty and health." I'm all for that! Here is the web address of the article: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/spain_models1_dc.

Men's fashion is finally changing a little bit. According to Harriet Mays Powell in her article on Fall Fashion 2006 called Men & Women: A Fashion Love Story, "the oversize, indifferent, yeah-I-slept-in-this-so-what approach to clothes that’s been around for far too long is definitively dead. Suits are cool again, pants are trimmer, shirts are tucked in, belts are back." Here is the website for the entire article: http://nymag.com/fashion/06/fall/men/.
